MARYLAND CHIEFS OF POLICE
&
MARYLAND SHERIFFS' ASSOCIATION

AUXILIARY

IMPORTANT NOTE:  This event is open to the spouses, significant others, seminar guests, Auxiliary members and anyone who is
not required or obligated to attend training on Wednesday, September 13th.

We are pleased to announce a new and exciting addition to the Auxiliary's 2017 schedule of events.  This event promises to be informative, educational and an enjoyable experience for anyone who participates.
On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, the Auxiliary is offering the opportunity to enjoy an off-site bus excursion to explore the richly diverse culture of the Cambridge, Maryland area.  We will explore and experience both historical and current day sites that will enlighten and enrich our knowledge of the Eastern Shore.
The day will begin with and insightful and educational guided driving tour along the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway.  This powerful and inspiring journey will take us to various sites showing where Harriet lived, worked, worshiped and led others out of slavery during her time in Maryland.  The journey will conclude at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park and Visitor Center.  Here we will have time on our own to explore exhibits, walking trails, the Legacy Garden and a small museum store.
Following the historical tour of the Cambridge area, we will take time to stop for a scrumptious lunch at Old Salty's Seafood Restaurant.
After lunch our day will continue with a visit to a local vineyard, Layton's Chance.  This family-owned farm and vineyard has a long-established presence in the area.  The family has grown and adapted the farm since it first began in 1948.  We will spend the afternoon touring the vineyard and learning about their three-generation history and current operations.  There will be abundant time given to enjoying all the amenities as well as the small shopping experience they offer before we head back to the hotel.
We hope you consider joining us on what promises to be a day full of adventure, self-enrichment and fun.  There is limited seating so we encourage you to register quickly to secure a seat for this event.  Cost:  $60 per person, all inclusive.
Please see below for the agenda, additional information and registration details.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND FAQ'S
We start the day early, do we have time to eat breakfast before leaving for the day?

The hotel will be providing a small breakfast buffet in the Hotel Conference Center lobby just for bus trip guests prior to boarding the bus.  There will be additional information about the breakfast in the near future.
How should I dress?
We encourage you to dress comfortably for the day since there will be both times of extended sitting and physical activity throughout the day.  Also, remember to dress weather appropriate and wear comfortable walking shoes.
Will there be other lunch choices besides seafood?
Lunch will have additional options for those guests not wishing or able to have seafood.
How much walking is involved during the tours?
At both the Harriet Tubman State Park and Visitor Center and Layton's Chance Vineyard, there will be ample time and areas of rest for those members of the tour who either cannot or choose not to walk the whole tour.  We want you to enjoy your day!
Will we be back in time for the Banquet that evening?
Yes, the day has been planned to accommodate returning to the hotel in time to prepare for that evening's event.  The entire day is scheduled to take approximately 7-8 hours.  We should be back at the hotel somewhere around 4 pm and the Banquet begins with cocktails at 6 pm and dinner at 7 pm.  Hopefully, this will provide you with plenty of time to get ready,
What does all inclusive mean?
The cost of your trip will cover your breakfast, all scheduled tours and exhibits at both the morning and afternoon stops and lunch.  Any shopping you choose to do will be at your expense.
